Get to know me a little better

It has been my privilege to represent the residents of Central Ward as your Councillor and I seek your support for the upcoming election. I am a staunchly independent Councillor and not a member of any political party.

My qualifications are in Environmental Management (BEM Degree 2010) with a passion for ecology, conservation, geology, heritage and sustainable farming. I have joined networks and collaborated with colleagues to move towards energy efficient housing which is truly ‘affordable’ over the long term, and real progress is being made in our council area. Elected members have been united in Council seeking land for a town square following community consultation. I have lobbied hard and long for a Regional Aquatic Centre and hydrotherapy pool in Mount Barker and fought for Mountain Pool to remain open until this is achieved.

I support future community solar projects and subsidised solar to ensure ‘affordable housing’ residents can reduce power bills and help with greenhouse gas reduction. I have lobbied hard for a renal unit with capability for both dialysis and chemotherapy and am working to increase public school services rather than any more private schools (we have 6).

I want Mount Barker district to achieve the highest quality of life Council can deliver, at least cost and public consultation on all major decisions.

I attended 100% of meetings 2014-2018 and missed one meeting 2010-2014 (emergency surgery) and have served on a number of council and community committees. To mention just two of the latter am very proud of the success of the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market and the amazing result achieved by the General Store Community Arts Centre which saw Exhibition attendance rise from a dozen local artists to near 100 from South Coast, Adelaide and Hills. Proof positive of the need for an Arts and Cultural Centre. I currently serve on the Council Assessment Panel (elected Representative) and am Council Rep on the Kanmantoo Callington Community Consultative Committee (KCCC) and Murray Darling Basin NRM Council Advisory Group.

I am ready and willing to hear your concerns and aspirations for Central Ward and our District.

PLEASE VOTE IN THIS 2018 COUNCIL ELECTION.

Make your vote count.
